Dead Horse Point State Park

Dead Horse Point State Park has dramatic overlooks of the Colorado River and Canyonlands National Park! Its often a skipped over park as Arches and Canyonlands is so close to it but go if you have time as its amazing! Its one of the best places to stargaze close to Moab, Utah and has several easy to hard hiking trails and also a ton of biking trails! We didn't have time to bike but there were so many people with their bikes there! There are several panaormic views throughout the whole park you can't go wrong! You can also bring your dog on the trails as long as they are on a leash! Theres 8 miles of trails you can bring them on!

Dead Horse Point State Park has a terrible history behind it where in the 1800's cowboys would wrangle up wild mustangs and corralled them on the narrow neck of land and onto the point that was fenced off with bursh and sticks. One time, for reasons unknown the mustangs were corralled and the cowboys chose the wild horses they wanted and left the other ones trapped with no water and they ended up dying from dehydration.
